Blasted & Polished Stone Washed Full Brushed

The Brushed Finish:

First, the head, body, and tailcap are all separately masked to prevent damage to the threads and keep the tumbling media from entering the interior of the components. The light is tumbled with a medium-cutting plastic media in a vibratory tumbling chamber for 8 hours. Next, the light is assembled and taken to the lathe for the final hand-work, "brushing" the light with a medium grit 3M abrasive pad. Each light takes about 30 minutes to brush.

The finish on the grooves is also brushed and not a "machined" finish like the other two Alphas. In this closeup you can see the fine texture of the finish. A brushed surface is the best at hiding minor scratches from everyday use. Each custom light is hand-stamped with my maker's mark to show that the light was 100% made by me.

Nickel Patina

The photo above is supplied by one of my customers and illustrates the patina exhibited by the brushed finish. The surface texture traps oils from your hands and darkens the color of the electroless nickel plate. The original finish can be restored by using a general metal or silver polish. It can not be removed by soap and it should not be removed by scouring.
